Story by: Lynze Walker
Students were asked what song they enjoy listening to and why. Here are their responses along with some fun facts and my review.
Note: The opinions expressed belong solely to the author and those interviewed.

Miranda West (Senior)
Song: “Condemned” by Zach Bryan
Commentary:
Miranda said she liked the song because Zach Bryan’s words were true to her heart. Many of Zach Bryan’s fans agree with Miranda’s statement about his lyrics in general. After listening to the song myself, I think it’s a good song, even if I don’t like country myself. I recommend people to listen to it, too.
Fun Facts:
The song “Condemned” was the third song Zach Bryan ever posted to Twitter. It was also featured on an episode of Yellowstone to help him out. After listening to the song, I think it’s a good song even if I don’t like country myself. I recommend people to listen to it too.
Hailey Daniels (Senior)
Song: “I Hope” by Jay Lewis
Commentary:
Hailey said she liked the song because of “the the song’s beat…” The song itself may not be the most appropriate for some age groups based on the lyrics, but to many listeners, it is a good song. Many people feel like they can relate to the lyrics and concepts in the song.
John Payne (Senior)
Song: “Merry Go Around” by MGK
Commentary:
John stated this song “…was a really cool song. It is a very direct story overall. You don’t have to read between the lines to understand what the song actually means.” Once I listened to the song, it was okay. It’s not one of my favorite songs, but I can see why some people would enjoy the song.
Fun Facts:
This song by Machine Gun Kelly is one of the darkest songs he has written. The song is based on the twisted story of Romeo and Juliet in a poor community.
Ty Howerton (Senior)
Song: “Chicago Freestyle” by Drake
Commentary:
Ty says that “the song says a lot of very true things. A lot of the song is very good and relatable topics that some people can understand.” The song is very romantic. I think this song is really good. After I listened to it, I liked it and recommended it to some of my friends.
Fun Facts:
Drake pays respect to Eminem for the song “Superman” in the lyrics of “Chicago Freestyle”.
