We asked teachers/staff what life advice they would give to the graduating seniors, and here’s what they said:
Mrs. Bender: “Strive for growth and recognize perfection is impossible. Give yourself the grace and space to love yourself exactly as you are right now. You are good.”
Mrs. Egan: “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
Mrs. Almond: “Work hard and don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
Mrs. Murphy: “Choose to enjoy whatever it is that you get to do. It’s always a choice.”
Ms. Fatino: “When you reach the end of your rope, tie it in a knot and hang on.”
Coach P.: “Find something you love to do and do it well.”
Mr. Gunter: “I believe highly in a quote by Micheal Jordan. The quote is this…”You miss 100 percent of the shots you do not take”. He is referring to basketball in this quote, but I feel it refers to life in general. You are each equipped with a healthy body and mind. It is your choice to take shots in life or not. It is indeed a fact you will miss 100 percent of the shots you do not take. So that said, get out there and chase things you want out of your life, and take shots to do things you want to do. If you fail, get up and take on another challenge. The failure is a lesson on how to handle a missed shot, and stay confident to take the next one. Try not to make all these shots you take about making money or job-related. Take some solid shots at basic life goals. Those life shots are the ones you will store better memories of along the way. All that said, go take some shots. Don’t wait around and be a person who misses all their shots, because you are afraid to fail.”
Coach Bryan: “Throughout your life you will deal with all sorts of adversity. Just when you think you have everything figured out, life will punch you right in the face and knock you back onto the ground. You have to get back up and keep pushing forward. Always remember that for all of the negative things you encounter in your life, there will be just as many positive things to counter them out. Lastly, life is short so do not spend it letting little things bother you that you can not control. Be happy and don’t give up, don’t ever give up.”
Jill: “Don’t get married straight out of high school. The world is an ocean and there are a lot of fish in it.”
Nurse Crystal: “Travel the world before you settle down because there’s a lot to see.”
Mrs. Newman: “Keep God in your life, be honest in all you do, and work hard.”
Mrs. Pearson: “Give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
