Wheatland started the 23-24 school year off with a new Superintendent Mr. Randy Dougherty. Mr. Dougherty is returning along with his wife Mrs. Beccie Dougherty. Mr. Dougherty was here 7 years in the early 2000’s and Mrs. Dougherty was here for 8 years before they both left.

Mrs. Dougherty went to Warsaw for one year and then joined Mr. Dougherty Skyline R-I schools just 15 miles away from Wheatland. When asked about why they moved Mr. Dougherty said, ” We wanted a change of scenery. We knew most of the staff over here I coached a few of them and Mrs. Dougherty taught some of them. We knew there was a good age group for our boys.”

In the few short months of the Doughertys being back here at Wheatland R-II School district, they have made big, positive changes. Mr. Dougherty has added new lighting around the school. Dougherty also found sponsors to bring a new booster board to the front lawn of the school. You can find Mrs. Dougherty out keeping stats for the baseball games, taking pictures at sporting events, or taking students to numerous math contests. Mrs. Dougherty even brings snacks for the baseball boys on away games. The Dougherty’s bring a positive attitude, big smiles, and a lot of positive changes to our school. We are so glad they are here!
