It is District Tournament week for basketball all over the state of Missouri, and it’s an exciting time at Wheatland High School. The Wheatland Mules are the #1 seed in the Class 1 District 7 Tournament, which is being hosted by Macks Creek High School. They earned a first round bye in the tournament with their 18-8 record. The Lady Mules are the #2 seed in the Class 1 District 5 Tournament, which is being played right here at Wheatland High School. They also finished the regular season with an 18-8 record.
The Lady Mules defeated Halfway on Monday night to advance to the semifinals, where they will take on the Stoutland Lady Tigers Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Stoutland finished the regular season with a 12-14 record, defeating Hermitage 67-20 to advance to the District semifinals. The Lady Mules and Lady Tigers met earlier in the season in the Skyline Girls basketball tournament, where Wheatland won 61-38. The winner of the Wheatland-Stoutland game will take on the winner of the Climax Springs-Macks Creek game in the District Championship on Friday at 6:00 PM.
The Mules will take on the winner of Macks Creek vs. Climax Springs on Thursday at 5:30 PM in the District semifinals. The Mules have met both of these teams earlier in the season. Wheatland defeated Climax Springs 61-36 in their first game of the season. The Cougars finished the season with an 8-18 record. The Mules have beaten Macks Creek twice, both times by double digits. The Pirates finished the season at 6-18. The Mules will look to bounce back from a tough loss at Hermitage to wrap up the regular season. If the Mules win, they will play in the District Championship Saturday at 6:00 PM at Macks Creek.
Both the Mules and Lady Mules have had very successful seasons, and they will be looking to finish them with postseason runs over the next few days. They would love to have big crowds at their contests, so make sure to come represent Wheatland!
